The books are already back, the interior work is progressing, the exterior already is a campus landmark and everything’s on schedule for a January opening of the new Henry Madden Library.
The $105-million library construction project has reached its final phase. By December, the construction and interior finishing work will be completed in the new 300,000-square- foot north wing. During this same time, the old south wing is being completely remodeled.
Despite the construction, all library materials and services remain available to the campus and the community. During the summer, all books were returned to campus from the off-site storage facility. They are now housed in the new library building, allowing for more rapid retrieval.

When classes start at Fresno State, the cars come out. One thing you can count one during the first week of each semester is traffic. After that, driving and parking on campus get much easier.
There will not be any road closures on the campus when fall semester classes begin Monday, Aug. 25, but there may be traffic delays at Cedar and Shaw avenues, where a city of Fresno widening project continues.
The Dog Run, a free campus shuttle, offers rides on a pre-set circuit approximately every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday. To view a map of the stops, see http://www.csufresno.edu/police/transportation/dogrun/index.shtml
Media questions about traffic and parking should be directed to Amy Armstrong at 559.278.6709.

Associated Students, Inc. needs students to sit on campus committees. Committees typically meet once every two to four weeks and last no more than one or two hours. (Some may vary depending on the responsibilities and duties they are charged with.) It is a perfect way to get hands on experience in the work world and also be a student advocate on campus issues.

Summer came just as quickly as it went. This was well known as student packed their backpacks and printed out their class schedules to head back to campus. For some this was their first time stepping foot on a University campus, for others they are all too familiar with it as the head back for yet another year of classes.
But whether you’re a first time freshman or a super senior, the first day of classes is one filled with excitement, anxiousness, and sometime even a little bit of hope. Hope that this year is going to be different. And it will be. This is the year you take charge of your life, make it yours, and make something of yourself. You might even get involved on campus, join a club, or take on that new job.
So as you sit down in an old classroom chair, open that notebook to that fresh first page and click you’re new pens into gear remember: there are so many opportunities out there for you, but you’re the only one who can decide what to do with them.
Enjoy your first day,
-The Bulldog Blog Crew
