Fresno State Gives 112 Gobblers!

The Farm Market’s ‘Give-A-Gobbler’ drive helped bring in 112 turkeys to be distributed equally between the Community Food Bank and the Poverello House.  ASI President Graham Wahlberg and Fresno State President John Welty helped load the turkeys on the delivery trucks just in time for the holidays.

Holiday Hours at Fresno State

Most California State University, Fresno offices and programs will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 2 for Winter Break.

Faculty and staff will observe Christmas, New Year’s Day and three previous state holidays on which the campus remained open. Employees also take two vacation days during the closure.

‘Governator’ visits Fresno State

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger visited Fresno State at the site of what hope to be the new University High School spot.  However, the recent budget crunch makes many things uncertain, especially the bonds the University High School would need in order to build their new campus. Provost Echeveriria named CSU associate vice chancellor

Caroling for Cans helps feed the hungry!

17 students went Caroling for Cans on Thursday to campus departments. Caroling for Cans was a food drive to benefit the Bulldog Pantry.  They recieved 456 food items and $52.00 in donations!! Way to go carolers!

 This week the ASI Senate voted to also help the Bulldog Pantry by providing $4,500 in funding for the Spring 2009 semester.

UAW strike postponed

 

United Auto Workers Local 4123 representing the Teaching Associates, Graduate Assistants and Instructional Student Assistants announced its strike on CSU campuses starting today (December 10, 2008) has been postponed pending meetings with the California State University and Senate President Pro Tempore Darrell Steinberg.

Two Bulldogs Named to Wallace Watch List

The College Baseball Foundation and partner Mizuno announced Tommy Mendonca and Alan Ahmady have been named to the 2009 Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Watch List.

“We look forward to another great year of college baseball. The College Baseball Foundation continues to expand in many areas and we are excited to acknowledge and award achievements and outstanding character on and off the diamond,” said Raymond Richardson, chairman of Brooks Wallace National Player of the Year Award.

Give a Gobbler

California State University , Fresno ’s top faculty, staff and student leaders are inviting the campus community and the public to join the Fresno State Give a Gobbler drive and donate a student-produced turkey to help people who are hungry this holiday season.

With local charities reporting fewer donations and more demand, due to the difficult economy this year, university President John D. Welty, members of his cabinet and Associated Students Inc. President Graham Wahlberg are launching the effort. Donors purchase a Fresno State turkey that will be provided in the donor’s name to Poverello House or the Community Food Bank.

Local rapper Fashawn to perform on campus

Loal rapper Fashawn will be performing on campus at the Satellite Student Union on Sunday, December 7 for at the Blues for Blues concert, put on by USU Productions. Fashawn has worked with famous DJs such as Mick Boogie and Terry Urban and is set to release his official debut album this winter.

This past summer, he released a song dedicated to the National Champion Fresno State baseball team, which can be found here (hosted by the Fresno Bee). More information about Fashawn can be found on his MySpace.

Cost is $5 for students, $7 for public, and free with the donation of five canned food items. All food will be donated to the Bulldog Pantry. The show begins at 6 PM.
