(Thursday, June 18, 2009) Associated Students, Inc. helped take thirty students to the Tower Theater in Fresno to watch Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger present his speech on the budget.

The day prior to his speech, Schwarzenegger turned down the democrat’s proposed budget because it planned to increase state taxes. After some of the largest tax increases in the State’s history, the governor said the people have had enough. He emphasized that if Californian’s weren’t willing to pay higher taxes that everyone was going to have to make sacrifices. One of those sacrifices he mentioned was the Cal Grant program, something Fresno State students along with other students from the CSU, UC, and Community Colleges have lobbied for in Sacramento as recently as earlier this month.
