Applications are now being accepted by students for two volunteer opportunities with the Health Promotion & Wellness Services Department here on campus. Both provide students with experience in a medical/health promotion environment.
Family PACT Peer Health Educator program. This two-semester commitment teaches students to educate their peers regarding sexual health. The office of Financial Aid at Fresno State is trying to help students as much as possible. They have laid out everything you need to know about Financial Aid for the next year depending on your situation.
2009-10:
Students wishing to have special circumstances considered for 2009-10 funding should be advised of the following deadlines:
April 6 - Projected Year Petitions (change in income). Original deadline was posted as April 1, however this is a furlough day.
April 15 - ‘Budget Adjustment’ (additional expenses not considered in the standard student cost of attendance)
Summer 2010:
Funding may be available to matriculated students enrolled in a minimum of 6 units of degree applicable courses during the summer. Program eligibility is contingent upon available funds and remaining eligibility at the end of the 2009-10 financial aid cycle. Interested students should inquire in the Financial Aid Office after April 6 when Summer Interest Forms will be available.
2010-11:
Document requests are now being posted to the “To Do” list on your Student Center. Email communications are also being sent. (New applicants that have not established a Fresno State email account will receive this initial notice in hard copy format but are strongly encouraged to establish that email account now.)
All students are being encouraged to complete their financial aid files by June 30 to insure awarding by the start of the fall 2010 semester. Documents will be accepted after that date, however we cannot guarantee that funding will be available for the first major disbursement in August.
Financial aid fee deferments will not be assigned to students whose files remain incomplete.

Adult mentors are needed for a school-based mentoring program, Encourage Tomorrow, which is held after school from 2:15-4:15pm Tuesday-Thursday on a Fresno Unified elementary school campus. Mentors and mentees will engage in activities that are prepared by the program facilitators and designed to empower mentees as well as create a meaningful bond between you and your mentee. This is a great opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life today. For more information please call Encourage Tomorrow at 559.233.2880.
