Going from the 50-yard line of Bulldog Stadium to Beijing’s Tienemen Square, 25 past and current Fresno State students and Director of Bands Gary Gilroy will participate in a 2,008-member ensemble of young people from around the world at the summer Olympics in China.
The only catch is that each musician is paying his/her way, which totals to $4,500 each. Donations can help dramatically with the cost and also help make this dream a reality.
To help our Bulldog musicians make a smooth departure on July 29th, visit the marching band’s donations page, here.

Hot off their success in Game 2 the Bulldogs came to Omaha ready to play in Game 3 of the championship series of the College World Series. The Fresno State Bulldogs are national champions after pulling off one of the greatest upsets of history. Justin Wilson went 8-innings with 9 K’s and only one earned run. Supported by a heroic performance by Steve Detwiler who had six RBI’s, the Bulldogs defeated Georgia 6-1. The Georgia Dawgs tried to jumpstart a rally in the 9th inning, but Brandon Burke entered the game to end their dreams. Fittingly, the last batter of the game flew out to Detwiler. On a side note, Tommy Mendonca, who was selected for Team USA and tied a record for most homeruns in a college series, was named the CWS MVP.
This is a great time to be a Bulldog! Come celebrate with your Fresno State Diamond Dogs tomorrow, Thursday night at 7 p.m. on Beiden Field.
Go Dogs, National Champions!

The moxie and grit of Fresno State which served them so well during the post season has come through again. The Bulldogs, facing elimination, found themselves down 5-0 by the third inning of Game 2 of the championship series. But all of that soon changed with a 6-run inning in the third inning that resulted in a 15-run streak by the end of the 5th inning. Powered by a strong bottom half of the batting order, as well as the bats of Susdorf and Mendonca, the Dogs’ found themselves ahead at the end of the game 19-10. Fresno State leads all teams in the CWS in homeruns. Mendonca hit his fourth homerun of the CWS tonight, tying a record for most homeruns hit in a CWS. You can watch our Bulldogs play for the National Title in Game 3 against No. 8 Georgia Wednesday on ESPN at 4 p.m. (PT). MM
There will be a welcome home celebration (win or lose) at Beiden Field on Thursday at 7:00 pm. As always, your Bulldog Blog crew will keep you posted!

Fresno State will advance to the College World Series Finals for the first time in the history of the program after defeating North Carolina 6-1. The Dogs scored runs in every inning from the third to the sixth innings to defeat the No. 2 national seed and two time CWS runner-up. Tommy Mendonca drove in four runs and pitcher Clayton Allison put on a heroic performance throwing six innings after a two week recovery from tendinitis in the shoulder. Coach Batesole referred to the Dogs as the purest and most selfless team he has ever coached. This gives a new spin to the saying “good guys finish last.”
Watch your Diamond Dogs take on Georgia for the National Championship on ESPN2 on Monday and Tuesday at 4 p.m.

Fresno State may have lost last night to North Carolina but their chances of a championship series with Georgia are still alive. Fresno State took a commanding lead, 3-0, with Tommy Mendonca’s 2-run homer in the 4th inning. North Carolina answered the call with two runs in both the 4th and the 8th innings. Although the Bulldogs lost 4-3, they can still revel in the fact that Mendonca’s decking of a base-runner made the No. 1 spot in ESPN SportCenter’s Top Ten Plays of the Day. You can watch the Dogs vie for a place in college baseball history as they play an elimination game at 4 p.m. today on ESPN Classic.

The Fresno State baseball team doesn’t understand the concept of giving up. Down early in the season, they have managed to get their game together and not only win the WAC Championship but got invited to the College World Series. But they haven’t stopped there.
With two games under their belt, the Dogs continue to be undefeated in the CWS.
North Carolina and LSU (who are both 1-1) will face off to see which one gets to take on our Bulldogs in Game 12 of the CWS.
