Students who have participated in early registration for summer classes must pay their fees or have an approved fee waiver/deferment by Friday, May 22.  Students will be cancelled if fees are not paid by this date.

Travel Alert

A travel alert was issued by the U.S. Department of State in October warning travelers that crime rates have increased sharply in Tijuana, Juarez and Nogales - all Mexican border cities that have experienced public shootouts during the daytime in shopping centers and other public places. The department warned that criminals have followed and harassed Americans driving in border areas.

Outstanding Advisor Awards

  The prestigious Outstanding Advisor Awards are awarded annually to faculty and staff advisors who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students. The new library is finally here!

We have long been waiting for the infamous library to open. Well bulldogs, it is finally here. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on the 19th and the library will be opening on the 20th. No more UC 123 or electronic delays, there will be books, actual books, for our very hands.

Add / Drop Deadlines

Last day to add/drop without permission is Tuesday, February 3.  This is also the last day the Wait List process will run.
Beginning Wednesday, February 4 through Wednesday, February 18 all adds will require a permission number.  Last day to add a class for the spring 09 semester is Wednesday, February 18.
Wednesday, February 4 through Wednesday, February 18 all drops will require the permission of the instructor using the Drop/Withdrawal form and submitted to the Admissions and Records service windows.  Drops submitted during this time frame do not have to be of serious and compelling reason and will not have a grade of “W” appear on the university transcript.
Beginning Thursday, February 19 through Tuesday, April 21 all drops must be of a serious and compelling reason and must have the approval of the instructor and the department chair on the Drop/Withdrawal form submitted to the Admissions and Records service windows.  Drops submitted during this time frame will have a “W” grade appear on the university transcript.

REGISTRATION/TUITION FEE PAYMENT DEADLINE DATES

Registration/Tuition fee payment deadline for students who participate in Late Registration (January 17 - February 3) is Tuesday, February 3.  Students who do not pay by this deadline will have a hold placed on their registration and no further add activity will be allowed.  These students will officially get cancelled if they have not paid fees by Wednesday, February 18.

Registration/Tuition fee payment deadline for students who participate in Registration by Permission (February 4 - February 18) is Wednesday, February 18.  Students will be cancelled for non-payment of fees.

Financial Aid now available!

fafsa.jpgIt’s time to file your 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  If you are planning on enrolling in 2009-10 and wish to receive federal or state financial aid, now is the time to apply.  You are encouraged to file as early as possible.  Applications filed by March 2 are given priority.  Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for more information! Be sure to be prepared for the FAFSA process by applying for a PIN online, determining your dependency status ahead of time, and estimating your 2008 income information.

Holiday Hours at Fresno State

Most California State University, Fresno offices and programs will be closed Dec. 25 through Jan. 2 for Winter Break.

Faculty and staff will observe Christmas, New Year’s Day and three previous state holidays on which the campus remained open. Employees also take two vacation days during the closure.

Priority application for scholarships: November 30

Priority application deadline for SCHOLARSHIPS for the 2009-2010 academic year is November 30th. Before you get too stuffed on the turkey, be sure to log on to http://www.csufresno.edu/scholarships/index.shtml first to complete your 2009/2010 scholarship application.

Financial aid for next semester

Graduating in December and returning to complete post baccalaureate work in the spring?  Make sure you notify the Financial Aid Office if you are receiving financial aid, including student loans.  The change in careers (undergraduate to post baccalaureate) will require some adjustments to your award.  Don’t forget, or your disbursement may be delayed in spring. The Financial Aid office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed for lunch at noon until 1 p.m. You can call them at (559) 278-2182. It`s time to begin thinking about Spring 2009 registration!

* Check your registration appointment on-line under your Student Center
* Check your registration holds and make sure you are clear to register
* The Class Schedule is on sale at the Kennel Bookstore
* Make sure your major is correct to avoid prerequisite problems
during registration
* Meet with your adviser to plan your class schedule

Continuing Students will register November 3 through November 7.  New
students will register at one of the Dog Days sessions held in November
and December.

A computer lab and registration assistance will be available on
Thursday, November 6 and Friday, November 7 on the main floor of the
University Student Union from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students who participate in early/priority registration will have to pay
their fees by Friday, December 5, 2008 or make sure a fee
waiver/deferment is approved by this date.

Call the Admissions, Records and Evaluations Office at 559.278.2261 if
you have any questions.
