The USA Today Top 25 coaches’ poll now includes our very own Fresno State Bulldogs… before the season even begins. This is the first time the Bulldogs have made the Top 25 in a preseason poll. However, we barely made the cut at No. 25. While the Bulldogs have made the Top 25 in a previous year (2005) this is the first time they have made it to the preseason poll.
They also predict the Georgia Bulldogs will win the national title. Last week Fresno State was picked by the WAC Coaches to win the league title.
Georgia received 22 first place votes to be ranked No.1, followed by USC at No. 2, which had 14 first place votes. The Trojans and Bulldogs are the only two California schools ranked in the preseason Top 25.
Rutgers, Fresno State’s season opening opponent, received 53 points, good enough for 29th in the rankings. Wisconsin, Fresno State’s home opening opponent is ranked No. 12 in the coaches poll.

Going from the 50-yard line of Bulldog Stadium to Beijing’s Tienemen Square, 25 past and current Fresno State students and Director of Bands Gary Gilroy will participate in a 2,008-member ensemble of young people from around the world at the summer Olympics in China.
The only catch is that each musician is paying his/her way, which totals to $4,500 each. Donations can help dramatically with the cost and also help make this dream a reality.

But until the renovation in complete in January of 2009 we will still have to go to the University Center to request our books. The good news, less wait time to get the books.

The Fresno State Bulldogs tasted victory last night in their first game of a best-of-three series only to have it snatched from their grasp. The Dogs played in one of college baseball’s most memorable games filled with back and forth battles, high and low emotions. The Dogs were down, tied, behind again, winning, and then tied once more during the game until the 8th inning when they seemingly took hold of all momentum to score three runs and lead Georgia 6-3. No sooner could the players, all smiles, retake the field before they suddenly found themselves facing a Georgia comeback fueled by their All-American shortstop Gordon Beckham’s 2-run shot over the left field wall. By the end of the inning Georgia was back on top 6-7 and wouldn’t relinquish the lead.Your Bulldogs will retake the field tomorrow to stave off elimination and force a Game 3. You can support them this afternoon and catch the game on ESPN at 4 pm (PT). Go Dogs!!!

The Fresno State baseball team doesn’t understand the concept of giving up. Down early in the season, they have managed to get their game together and not only win the WAC Championship but got invited to the College World Series. But they haven’t stopped there.
With two games under their belt, the Dogs continue to be undefeated in the CWS.
North Carolina and LSU (who are both 1-1) will face off to see which one gets to take on our Bulldogs in Game 12 of the CWS.
