Get Academic Credit For Getting Invovled

july-service-08.jpgThe Richter Center for Community Engagement and Service-Learning can help you out. Did you know you can even get academic credit for getting involved? California State University, Fresno students can enroll in two different courses that will furnish them with an in-depth community service-learning experience. Students can choose where they wish to do their service activities from hundreds of nonprofit agencies and can tailor the experience to fit their schedule and interests. The two courses available to students are Community Service 1 - Community Service-Learning and Community Service 101 - Community Service Internships. Welcome Week 2008

Clubs and Organizations get to make a presence during Welcome Week which takes place the first week of instruction. Have your club sign up by August 1, 2008 to participate. ASI’s T-Shirt Exchange Program

You can exchange your gear from another college or university in for an ASI Fresno State t-shirt starting the first week of school. What do you need to do? It’s simple: Bring your old shirts in to the ASI office in USU-316 or USU-317 and you get a brand new one! What happens to the old shirts? If in usable condition, they will be donated to a local clothing charity.

Loaner Laptops Available On Campus

So now you’re a college student, but how are you going to do your work? ASI (your student government) provides free laptops for Fresno State students! You can check one out for up to four (4) hours, all you need is your student I.D. and one other form of identification. Normally you can get the laptops at the Henry Madden Library, but until construction is complete you can check out a laptop at the University Center (right across from the USU and next to The Bucket).

Free Tutoring for the Hard Working Student!

So college work is a little different from high school work, well that’s okay because the Learning Center can help! Previously known as the Learning Resource Center or LRC , the LC provides free tutoring, free study space, free computer labs, and no appointment is necessary! It is located at the Peters Business Annex and is open during the summer 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Bored? Try Bowling and Billiards!

bowling-picture-strike.JPGAs a new student you will find all sorts of free time, so instead of being bored, come to the USU and go bowling or play billiards! Bowling is $1.90 per person per game (with $1 rental fees for shoes) and billiards is $3.90 per hour.

(These rates are for students only, so take advantage of it and bowl at your hearts content!)

The Top 40 Things You MUST Do Before You Graduate

To help celebrate the University Student Union’s 40th Birthday this year, ASI has put together a list of the top 40 - alcohol free - things that you should do in and around campus before graduation.  This isn’t just a recommendation, this is a challenge!
